AI in Critical Infrastructure

A CSIRO-led project has been examining how frontier AI technologies are being adopted across critical infrastructure sectors — and what that means for risk, governance, and societal resilience. This talk shares recent findings from that work, which is supported by a grant from the UK AI Security Institute through its AISI Challenge Fund.

Dr Mohan Baruwal Chhetri is a Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO. His research focuses on human–AI collaboration, cybersecurity resilience, and intelligent systems for complex socio-technical environments. With over 20 years of R&D experience, he has led major projects on AI-enabled cybersecurity, critical infrastructure resilience, and responsible emerging technologies. He is a Senior IEEE Member and has authored over 100 publications.
